I really enjoy the privilege of being with Windtree Press, where I'm able to meet with and learn from other authors who take their careers seriously but themselves, not so much.

I met Maggie when she joined the Northwest Independent Writers Association (NIWA) where I was communications director. When she invited me to join her cooperative I was thrilled. I knew I'd learn a lot from her as she's one of those rare people who combine technical skills with creativity. Add tremendous energy and a real desire to reach out and help others and well, that's Maggie.

As an example, I recently met with her to discuss my goals as a mystery/suspense writer. She asked what I needed from her to help me succeed. I couldn't formulate an answer right then because I was really surprised. I mean, how often does someone ask us what WE need? Maggie does.

Great leadership is what makes great organizations, and that's Windtree Press. Writing is a solitary business, you live in your own head a lot of the time and being part of a cooperative, especially this one means having an outlet of support and a network of people who are not only striving for their own success, but care about yours. Being part of a cooperative like this offers the chance for shared marketing opportunities- we are always learning from one another & when we do get together or connect on-line, it is very refreshing to be able to talk shop until we drop- Maggie is a great leader and teacher and each of us feel blessed to be part of the team. Each member brings something different to the table, whether it is expertise in the genre they write, other skills and abilities outside of writing and there is respect there. We are all overachievers, some more so than others-- many kick butt in the production department but no one is judgmental - instead think inspiring. What really appealed to me about the cooperative was not being out there fumbling alone. I like being part of a group like this that I can go to for answers and advice, but still be able to make my own decisions.Kathy Coatneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01107864583791501415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4942230357446395760.post-31913416189222518722015-10-02T16:37:26.581-07:002015-10-02T16:37:26.581-07:00Thanks to Triskele Books as well! Great to have another author co-op on the digital map with us.

I've known and admired Maggie for years, first as the president of the Portland, Oregon chapter of Romance Writers of America, as a wise mentor whom I called on as I began the journey of a published author, and finally as a friend.

I joined Windtree Press with her because she has the gift of looking ahead, and reminding other authors that publishing is a long game, and one in which diversification is the wisest choice. Being a member of WP gives me a much better chance at that, worldwide.

It also makes me a part of a talented, collegial group that supports my career and allows me to support theirs in tangible ways. We are a varied bunch in some ways, but alike in one--we're determined to work hard, and work smart.Cathryn Cadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10714037225684245673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4942230357446395760.post-73091106498195587882015-10-02T16:32:21.596-07:002015-10-02T16:32:21.596-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Cathryn Cadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10714037225684245673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4942230357446395760.post-82142477848257079012015-10-02T13:53:54.660-07:002015-10-02T13:53:54.660-07:00Thank you so much for having me on the Triskele Bo...Thank you so much for having me on the Triskele Books Blog. I do love sharing Windtree Press with others. In a world where competition is king, it is wonderful to have a group of people who believe in supporting each other and working together instead of competing in a winner-take-all manner. It seems that Triskele Books has a similar attitude and I appreciate that very much.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
